The Afternoon Wind

Hi! How’s the extremely suffocating weather treating you so far? The heat wave here in the Philippines is crazy, but it’s expected alright. So, how are you enjoying your summer? I love to hear your stories, so please comment below.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but whenever the afternoon wind hits me, I feel sleepy, especially and more so on weekends. And I used to hate that, believe me. I hate sleeping in because my mind tells me that it’s unproductive and I could make use of that time to do something fruitful. I guess, this is the workaholic side of me speaking. ‘Cause once you know me, you’d know that I hate doing nothing.

But recently, I started to welcome the need for my body to relax and let sleep take over my consciousness even just for a bit. I guess, I already accepted the fact that sleep can help you function more and can also be an avenue to get away. To escape your thoughts, you know? I overthink a lot, and sometimes it’s really not funny anymore. I tend to get lost in my own thoughts that sometimes I’m having a hard time to snap out of it and be in control once again. Sleep makes it better for me. ‘Cause magically every time I do wake up, the problems are still there, but my resolve and hope are stronger than ever.

So, as soon as the afternoon wind settles in, and I finally get my rest, I stand on my own feet again and take on the world. I face my fears, my problems, my longing, my... well you name it. Because I think that is exactly what God wants me to do.  “Sleep, my child, for when you wake up, you will once again move mountains.”
